What Are You Doing for World AIDS Day?
On December 1, 2005, Change for a Penny will exhibit the world'slargest coin display (we hope) -- more than two million pennies -- to
raise awareness of the size of the AIDS pandemic in sub-Saharan Africa.
Where: Outside of Kepler's Bookstore (www.keplers.com)
Address: 1010 El Camino Real in Menlo Park, California (the corner
El Camino and Ravenswood)
When: Thursday, December 1, 2005 (World AIDS Day)
Time: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
2,000,000 are alot of pennies, but it's less than 1/10th of the
number of people who have died of AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. On
December 1, 2006, we hope to display (in Washington, D.C.?) 25.4
million pennies to show the world. For more information, see the
flyer attached, or visit our website at www.gotcents.org
WE WOULD LOVE YOUR HELP! If you would like to help us with the
logistics for this Thursday, please send us an e-mail response (todd@gotcents.org).
The logistics are a little daunting. Here's what we need:
15-20 people between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. -- These wonderful folks
would help us move pennies from our house to Kepler's. Three people
would be stationed at our house to load, 10-15 people would drive
(SUVs and pick-up trucks are best), and three to five people would
unload at Kepler's and set up. With 20 people, we think we could be
done in a little more than an hour.
8-? people to share some time with us at the display during the day.
Lil and I will be there, rain or shine. It would be fun to have
company.
10-15 people at 6 p.m. for about an hour to help load all the pennies
into the bins for Brinks. (That's right!! Brinks is taking and
counting all the coins for us!)
Thanks and blessings!

"Dear Francis" Screening Thursday 11/10
Hello Hello,Tomorrow night I'll be at a place called Vertigo...
The U2 concert will be amazing, but so will Thursday night, when we will be having another Realize AIDS Movie Night at Casa de Julie Warren at 7:00. We will be watching a film titled "Dear Francis", and I would like to offer a special personal endorsement of this movie - even if you haven't come to any of the others, COME TO THIS ONE!!!
"Dear Francis" chronicles the experiences of two college students from Texas who go to Swaziland to teach abstinence to high schoolers. Taking place in a country where 39% of the population is HIV+ and a 15 year old has less than a 10% chance of living to age 35, this film has really helped me to see the magnitude of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. I hope it will be the same for everyone else.
Case de Julie Warren is located at:
825 Live Oak Ave Apt B
Menlo Park, CA 94025
Look forward to seeing you all there!
T-Bone
